easter cards

i made several easter cards......it's my last big holiday warranting a card !  oh my, what will i do without a holiday ?

there are a few, so here goes:  this one is made using a yellow original sizzix die of a daffodil.....i cut the inside of the polka dot cardstock (from a giant pack i bought at Sam's a few years ago) with a nestability die and embossed a piece of acetate to place in the opening.  PTI stamp for sentiment

for this one i cut a flower with a nestability die using a pearlescent piece of wrapping paper.  sponged it, and then folded it to resemble a bud.  the bottom of the bud is wrapped in a green mulberry paper.... wispy edges make it look sort of real.  the stem is stamped and embossed with a SU flower stamp.  the little bee is popped up and colored with stickles and diamond dust.

several nestability label dies showcase this little bunny.... used $ stamps from Michaels i bought years ago.  hard to see, but i used flocking for the bunny so he is a fuzzy bunny.  his tail is a little pom pom that came on a wire.  i just punched little holes and threaded and secured it from the back.

last one is a free digi stamp.....colored with copic markers and a bit of diamond dust.  the tulip and leaves are popped up  for dimension.  (that is hard to see though.  my photography skills are pretty poor, sorry)

i lose track of names of stamps (many have been taken off their wooden blocks so the company is now a mystery), papers (i have many stacks dating back to my Joann store days).....for the most part i use what i have for backgrounds and pretty much stick with good cardstock from gina K and PTI for the card bases.  i concentrate on learning new techniques and love to re-purpose.

i feel that inspiration comes from images and execution from supplies on hand......tweaking .... and running with an idea to make it your own.

Happy Easter all.

our little kitten

we nursed this little guy....to the vet several times, he was just getting stronger and somehow he ran out of our home this morning.  neither my husband or I saw him get out......but when we looked for him....he was nowhere to be found in the house so he must have.  we are very sad....very sad.

please keep Lovey in your thoughts......he is only 3 lbs and has never been outside.
this is his most recent picture.....he is just a baby.
we are devastated. he was helping me take pix of my recent creations.....

another quilted card

these papers are from a K&K pad.  squares are 1 in and sewn onto cardstock for a quilted effect. background text on some squares are from PTI

this comforter set was the color inspiration for the card.

quilted cards

for southern breezes weekly challenge we were to get inspiration from clothing.

this sort of looked like an infant outfit might look if i could find those colors online in a baby catalogue !!
the cardstock is cut into 1.25 inch squares, and sewn onto cardstock with my janome mini sewing machine.  this will be a special card for my daughter's very good friend who is due this spring.

quilted card for southernbreeze's weekly challenge

we were challenged to use clothing as inspiration for this weeks color scheme.....the bedpsread's colors matched some K&K cardstock i had on hand.  since clothing must be sewed....i sewed the 1 1/4 in squares to cardstock to make a faux quilt.

party invitation

the flower almost looks like a pressed flower.  it actually is a paper posie, folded into quarters .... the green is mulberry paper pulled to look like the bottom of the bud.

butterflies are made with a martha stewart punch....stickles make the body. cardstock by bo bunny.

For Sheila

this week's southern breezes challenge was to make a card for a very special lady who has had a very tragic loss....her son passed away suddenly. for any parent, this is absolutely devastating.

my thoughts have been with sheila and her family since this happened .....

the card was to include butterflies and the color purple, her favorites......here is my offer.

love you sheila.....
