these are from a little mat stack...."mariposa'....not much needed to the front as the cardstock is so pretty.  i bought the stack in marshalls for only $2.99.  a bargain.  bows, flutterbyes, lace put the glittered CS over the top a bit.  but that's where i like to live..."over the top"

loved the black and white fabric, lined it in white, pocket on front is a quilted square. i even have a pocket inside.....easy to do.

used tim holtz flower die....folded in half, popped up the brown center.....a bit of glitter...

dresden plate gift

made this mat with the easy dresden ruler.....put a label on it (had these labels for many years !!) and thne made a card to go with it.....a gift for my "enabler", surprise !!

have been neglecting paper !!

made this set of four....inkadinkadoo dress form stamp...embossed on solid and then again on pattern...cut out dress form body and adhered....got the inspiration from gina k tutorial this week....."negative stamping".

using a fun n done pattern.....very springy.  added some fleece flowers to cover up the not perfect seam junctures.

finished my class quilt....had a sq left over so i made a matching pillow

lot of work, but i loved it  learned not to make bigger than a lap quilt unless i "quilt as you go"

little chickies

 3 in sq envies.....chickie and happy easter on top, inside a peppermint patty.  made for the girls at a school where i volunteer along with other ladies from the service league....hope they like the cute little chicks

made the chicks with a scalloped circle for the body, parts of a scalloped circle for the wings, triangle for beak and 1/2 in circles for eyes....and small flower for their feet.

tumbler quilt april 2011

my first finished quilt...lap sized.  used the small tumbler pattern...DH made the tumbler "ruler" for me...........it was a fun project, and quite happy looking !!

the quilt measures 37x43

this is the backing for the quilt...i brought it over to the front and used it as the binding.  will be a gift for a special friend....

finished mini runner

first finished piece !!  woo hoo.  squares are the four patch posey, black strip border and a piano keys border caps it off.  i backed it with the cinnamon and tiny white dots, pulled the backing over to form a binding. the binding is pinned now as i have yet to learn the handstitching technique for the binding.....soon i hope, maybe this week !!

i am also making a card to represent each square or technique, well sort of....so i get to play with paper and with fabric.  this mini runner is on a chest in the front hall.....adds a pop of color to the chest DH made years ago.

the pattern....4 patch posey.....bordered in black......needs batting and binding.  and then i learn to machine quilt.  that must be hard....we shall see.  this is a belated christmas gift for my daughter, jen

quilt update

i finished twelve squares in my beginner class.... still have to learn how to put it together.  i bought a dresden plate ruler, watched a youtube video and made this christmas "plate" from fabric i have had for many years....will mount it on a square, quilt that and use it for a christmas wall hanging.  quilting is getting to be as much of an obsession as paper crafting.....uh-oh

two new quilt squares

for the second week of the beginner quilting class we had to make a block in the "jacob's ladder" pattern

this is a representation, not the exact one as it was very hard to translate the square into a small card.  i am learning....and it is getting easier, just a bit. i am still challenged with that quilter's ruler....better with the rotary cutter though !  a step in the right direction.  the buttons here hide a bit of imperfection !!

the next one is "triangles and squares", also a representation.  i am thinking the next set will be even more difficult to reproduce in paper, but we shall see. we are away for a week....so i will have to play catch up the week we return

nestability storage

used 3 magnetic knife bars from IKEA......they work great for storing nestabilities.  the big box hardware stores also carry magnetic tool bars, but i have not used any of those.

used the jar from PTI and a SU bunny to sit inside. i cut up bright green easter grass for him to sit on

pink scallop squares and a bit of bling

give me a few scraps of paper and a punch....some ribbon and a few pieces of bling....much easier than fabric and it comes together fast.  patience is NOT something i have in abundance.

quilted cards

I am taking a beginners quilting class....so I decided to make a card for each block we make.  We are to finish 2/week....these are the first.  The colors are not the ones used in my quilt, but represent each pattern that we learn.  I find it easier to work with paper, but but I am branching out !  DH is afraid of yet another hobby.

When (I hope it is not an "if") I finish the quilt I will post it here.  8 more weeks of classes.....and a bunch of angst.  My good friend, Carol, is helping me through the difficult rotary cutting aspect.....that is very hard for me.  Give me paper and a punch any day !!

inspired to get an old stamp set out....cant remember who made it, no longer have the packaging.

the sentiment is from a new foot long set i got at michaels last week.....used a very old fiskars 8.5x11 plastic thingy with cutouts (i think you use it with the shape cutter?) to make the inked border....

fun to use things that have just sat and sat.....colored with copic markers....and popped a bit with brads for flower centers.  background paper...PTI bitty dots
